What a glorious day!
Yesterday, when sitting down with my Tofurkey wrap and Days of Our Lives, the cable service blipped off. I sat there for a couple of minutes waiting for it to blip back on...since I know for a fact we're not holding a shut off notice. It didn't blip though...and I sat there in the quiet for thirty minutes eating my Tofurkey and wondering what the fuck was going on. I considered going back to the computer while I ate...but decided against it.
If I HAD gone back to the computer I'd have realized that our internet service had blipped off too. This would have ruined my lunch break, so I supposed it was better that I just sat there in the quiet thinking nasty thoughts about Comcast and listening to Roger amuse himself in the next room.
Eventually I made it back to the computer...knuckles cracked, deep breathes taken, and all ready to get down to business. After three days of intensive photos, inventory, and web mastery...I was ready to finally put the purchase buttons for our merchandise up...only to find...no internet. I checked the phone...not even a dial tone...dead air. Oh boy was I heated! I called Comcast TWICE to try and figure out what was going on, but each customer service rep was dumber than the last...so I finally gave up. I busied myself with some boring house cleaning chores and actually cooked some dinner for the family.
Luckily, earlier that day my Netflix arrived (Desperate Housewives) so I had something to amuse myself with while dozing off.
But...facing down today with no technology kinda freaked me out.
Typically my morning routine includes lots of news with my breakfast and coffee. House chores, then internet time, usually chat or email...but there's not much time for this. Then the kid goes down for his nap and I switch into intensive work mode... Then it's lunch, after which I TRY to finish whatever I started, but that usually ends badly. If I have the time I try to get to the park...but that hasn't happened lately
So...this morning, I savored every moment of Desperate Housewives watching while sipping my coffee...all the while knowing time was limited...two more episodes...one more epidsode...last one! Oh noooooo!!!
When it was finally over...I didn't clean the house. Instead I had a genius idea...yoga!!!
Last pregnancy I got myself this awesome preggie yoga dvd that I was never allowed to use, seeing as I was placed on bedrest in my third month. THIS pregnancy, however, I've been lucky enough to avoid this so far. And, having committed to staying moving for as long as they'll let me this time around...I decided to give this dvd a shot.
If felt great to be proactive in my pregnancy...though not nearly as relaxing as it COULD have been without a toddler circling me and pulling on my arms and legs... Still, when it was done, my mood had shifted and I was inspired to continue taking care of myself.
So, when the kid went down for his nap (in record time, mind you) instead of cleaning the house, doing the dishes, or even pinstriping which I NEED to do...never have time for...and had originally planned on doing to fill this period...I made myself a snack, picked up a book, and after an hour of reading, even squeezed in a quick nap for myself!
After lunch the doorbell rang and it was the mail guy leaving a big box on my doorstep, return address, my awesome friend in California who had a baby nearly four months ago. At first my riffling through the box revealed lots of itty bitty baby clothes, so cute and little, my emo, harmonally charged butt actually teared up. Then...I came upon a big pile of maternity clothes!!! Prezzies for Mommy?! SO HAPPY!!! I turned up the radio and gave Roger a rockin' fashion show!
It's certainly a blessing not to be on bedrest this time around (yet) but it does raise one significant problem...how to dress myself!! I survived last pregnancy mostly in one pair of jeans, a couple of t-shirts, one sweater, and lots of pajamas! So, despite the fact some of these clothes aren't the right size...I couldn't give less of a shit! I'm so happy to have more choices! I officially own more maternity clothes now than regular ones! lol I love it!
After the fashion show Roger and I went to the park. The weather is crisp and beautiful the way only New England in fall can be. And without any pressing work that needs to be done, we took extra time to play in the leaves.
With all that fresh air and happiness, I swear I returned home more rejuvinated than I have been in weeks!
Upon our approach home...I found a Comcast van. I questioned the tech guy who explained that there had, indeed, been a wiring problem outside our home in the past few days. Unsure whether this would be OUR problem...I tentatively picked up the phone on my way in...and there it was...dial tone! I was both relieved and sad. This means back to business as usual...
At least I had today!!!
