Saturday morning...not nearly as early as we had hoped to be out the door, but early enough.
Our car packed to the brim with the new tent, matching camo sleeping bags, flashlights, and cooler...
The plan? The "Rumble in the Country." A hot rod show thrown by the Nomads chapter of the Rumblers Car Club every year in the bumblefuck area of Connecticut. Also known as, My Man's very first ever hot rod show!
What happened? Within seconds of jumping our happy asses into our pimp-o-matic Buick...my man was introduced to the very first tradition of hot rod shows... That is? The car wouldn't start!!!
Oh yeah...laugh all you want...but this is as much a tradition as mistletoe on christmas. If you happen to be a hot rodder, you know I'm speaking the truth. So while he struggled to contain his anger...I struggled to contain my giggling (knowing full well it would all work out, because simply stated, it always does).
...and with the help of a friendly passerby we got our car jumped and in less than an hour, we were off!! Two hours later and He was ladden down with our beer cooler and I was happily pointing at and explaining the make, model, and modifications on every vehicle standing still...and some that weren't.
Eventually we found my friend Bobeats and settled in for some good ol' conversation...cars, beer, old friends, new friends...and did I mention cars? Life is sweet...
After a long hot day in the sun...
One of my favorite dudes in the world...Bobeats...and his fabulous new lady Alex
Yuck-o-rama...but hey, they can't ALL be beauties...
My man...
Then it was time to set up for the night...
I got MAD skills, YO!!!
Um...yeah...I don't see YOU helping!!!
All in all in was a good time... But the best part? The Man enjoyed himself. So now I can not only chalk up that he's as big a soccer fan as I am (nothing worse than world cup soccer when your partner couldn't give a shit) but he's found a love for my OTHER passion...old cars.
