today would have been my last day in the marine corps.

i was going to be married in a few months.

we were going to start a family together.

happy. that's what i would have been.

it wasn't to be.

so here's a toast instead.

a toast to the honorable discharge i didn't get.

a toast to the wedding band i won't be wearing.

a toast to the children i won't get to raise.

and a toast to the happiness that came so close.
