I'm sick of apathy
I'm sick of greed
I'm sick of consumerism
I'm sick of TV and mindless entertainment
I'm sick of government
I'm sick of pettiness
I'm sick of ignorance
I want people to feel and I want to feel
I want to stop being desensitized by the images on a flickering machine
I want to people to love one another and realize we're all in life together
I want people to get over petty differences and accept our fellow man
I want to care about something besides money and how I'll pay for my next meal
I want to see the sun rise on a peaceful world where the sunset can be appreciated
Have people gone so far as to not turn back? I hope not. I understand from numerous conversations that America is the worst of it. What do I have without my car, my apartment, my large liquor cabinet, my numerous electronic devices, my TV, and the money in my pocket? When all this... stuff... is removed what's left? You and I stripped to what we are, were created as, and nothing more. When did we forget how to appreciate life and the lives of others? When did all that matters become SUVs, big houses, high paying jobs, and miscellaneous nick knacks? I appreciate the things I have but I still feel empty as though there's something missing. I try to be sucked into American consumerism and will go on spending frenzies where it's not uncommon for me to spend 50-100 dollars on CDs, movies, and other possessions, but it all seems so trivial when that void is still here. I've tried relationships and none have worked... everyone I have known is so stuck in little differences and what they like and dislike that all they want me to be is who they want me to be... not who I am. My friends are as rarely around as the few friends I have. If I died today I would look back on my life and shutter. As, I believe, would most Americans. Where is the purpose in our lives? Has it all been drained away by spending countless hours of our lives watching TV, or even longer working jobs for more money to feed our consumerism and anti-humanism? I call for all of us to wake up and sell our meaningless possessions or even better, give them away. Embrace your neighbor. Next time you think of buying something you don't need, call a friend and go spend time with them or meet someone new or sit down and observe the beauty in the world and what nature has to offer. We are nothing without the planet we live on or the people we live with.
I may never be able to fill the void that's in me, but there's nothing stopping you... express yourselves to the fullest of your capability and don't be afraid to let go of your emotions and to actually FEEL. Don't be afraid to watch a simple movie and cry at it, hear a beautiful song and cry, laugh at nature's simple jokes (and believe me, there's a million of them starting with the penis and the vagina), or just to absorb the beauty of life and actually smile. I'll do what I can to fill the void and I expect you to do what you can...
Peace and love to everyone,
