Tebori
to me it means - "The method by which Michael, that is me, will get his next, first, piece"
Last july I got me first tattoo. I went to Daredevil for their Friday the 13th special.
here it is today
So I broke my cherry and immediately started to think about the next piece - the REAL piece.
To me tattoos are the highest form of art, and should be treated as such. It's application is eternal (for at least the life of the wearer and those it influences), indelible, and incredibly intimate.
After reading about the art for the better part of a year - I've decided that my next piece would be a custom (as all of the work done on me from this point forth) piece - done in the tebori technique, or the hand poke method.
It will take multiple sessions and a lot of money - so I'll need to save and pace myself.
the center piece of each half sleeve will be Foo dogs - oriented to the proper location for male and female on the front of my shoulders. The other custom part will be the side of the arm out outer bicep - on my right will be an asian interpretation of St. Michael defeating the devil (taking liberties of course) and on the left will be St. Christopher carry jesus (for my brother)
I am not a devout catholic. But i want to tribute my brother and my own namesake - along with my parents as temple guards on my body.
It should be interesting, but now I have to find the right artist - at any price. I think Shinji at NY Adorned my be the ticket - as he is solely a Tebori artist. I'll have to find out if he'll go for the non traditional christian imagery in his designs.
And what his rate is - and how long he thinks two half sleeves will take - so I can make a budget.
I'm hoping he moves fast in an hour.
Any thoughts?
