rich and honest?
do we think both are possible?

I was painfully reminded yesterday of why I carry on the good fight. A (prominent, powerful) attorney I used to work with came in to make a presentation to us. And there was some reason to what he said, some appeal. But I was reminded of how he had over the years developed a sense of entitlement, and, in identifying with his wealthy corporate clients with a similar sense of entitlement, was willing to make excuses that really did not couple the entitlement with a sense of responsibility (with honor and privilege -- should -- go responsibility, social responsibility).
Frankly, it was very depressing. I would like to think that hard work and honesty can lead to success and reward, but there is much evidence that a certain tolerance for a level of "dishonesty" is necessary, at least in corporate culture and politics, for "success" (let's leave aside any debate about what success in life really means ... obviously that term has different meaning in the context of work, and the context of love, etc.)

I am rich BECAUSE I am honest.
