Well, there've been intimations about it flying around and I finally posted to the PnP RPG group about it, so I thought I'd save time and just post before I get a bunch of questions. Much of what follows also probably qualifies as shameless plugging...but fuck it.
Yes, I'm on "staff" (a funny word since none of us get paid) at a company called Game Monkey Press that's putting out a new roleplaying game, Valherjar: The Chosen Slain. It's a modern fantasy series that puts players as fallen warriors resurrected by the Norse gods and returned to earth to try and stop Ragnarok.
It's a pretty sweet game with a whole lotta shit that really makes it unique. It's dual statted with D20 so it has appeal, but our original system is a one-throw system (lets you resolve everything with one throw of the dice) and is a ton of fun to play. The game itself is amazingly deep and draws incredibly heavily from the norse myths, the eddas, and modern Asatru.
We've been working for a couple of years now and we're finally ready to launch. Right now we're about to start our Beta Testing (the final round of playtesting) and so that's what the post in pnp rpg was about.
And while that's exciting, the fucking industry has pretty much collapsed thanks to the FUBAR with the WotC stores so I expect to stay as what amounts to volunteer labor for a whole lot longer. It sucks, but I have enough faith in it to hang on.
Anyone interested in playtesting...and PLEASE be interested in playtesting because we're desperate for playtesters...hit the Game Monkeys website at http://www.gmpress.com or email playtest@gmpress.com
And that does it for this week's update. Not terribly personal or insightful, I know, but next week'll be better.
