why no one but scientists hang out with other scientists:
Examples from the Texas A&M Disease Ecology Lab :

Setting: Lab meeting-
zoonotic disease PhD:"Up date us on what's going on with you"
Entomology Grad student: " ....and I became an aunt! (every one cheers) He was very premature but he's doing great now. HE POOPED TODAY for the FIRST TIME" (Every one cheers even more)
zoonotic disease PhD: "That's great! do you have pictures of him to share?"
Entomology Grad student: /gets out phone and passes it around the table
zoonotic disease PhD: "While you are passing that around I'll pass my phone around too. This is a tick we found on a wild boar." /passes around a picture of a tick on a quarter that covers more than half the quarter.

Setting- Hanging out after seeing a movie-
Animal husbandry student: "I see mosquitos when I close my eye's"
Disease Ecology/ entomology student: "I did 27 sets of DNA extractions in my dreams last night"
Animal Husbandry student: /gives knowing look

setting : In the dorm near the elevator-
Engineering student: "So what are you guys up to on this lovely Saturday night?"
Entomology student: "Going out collecting insects"
Engineering student: "That's lame you have to work on a Saturday night"
Entomology student: "What? No! we are doing it for our collection"
Engineering student: "What collection"
Entomology student: /looks confused "our insect collections"
Engineering student: /looks even more confused
Entomology student: /turns to other entomology student and asks for isopopanol
