I've been rock hunting a lot lately and I found a lot of old seafloor, with embedded pieces of shells and such, plus one spot in a rock where someone had removed a fossilized skull. I was gutted they had beaten me to it, but it was still cool to see. Since you like bugs and rocks and way cool science-y things, you should check out my latest blog. There are a bunch of really cool bugs from this incredible collection I visited recently, plus this pretty orange lichen and some weird fungus thing I found while backpacking.
