SO, another epic weekend of skiing.
I did fall one time, my neck is pretty fucking stiff... I was night skiing and a shadow seriously distracted me. i caught and edge and went flying. i flipped over a couple times and landed on my back with my head down hill. its a good thing the snow wasnt super hard and that i was able to sink into it a bit. i lost one ski and both poles (yet all were somehow right next to me, including my foot still being on the ski.. i was looking up the slope for them haha) anyway, i tweaked my neck, and my tricep on my right arm. i also got a bloody nose. lol Tom had gone on another run, and was down the slope waiting for me. started to worry when i wasnt there after a minute.
i was standing there trying to stop the bleeding. lol there was a point i just said fuck it, got my ski back on, and skiied down to where he was. he said when he saw me coming he could tell something was wrong because my form wasnt as good as normal. i wasnt thinking about HOW i was skiing, just about getting down to the lodge for some tissue. he got a photo of my grinning like a fool with blood on my face. i would show you the photo but i dont know where the camera is.. it may have gotten left in shasta.. oh well will be back on friday night. lol
i did a few more runs after that fall, and didnt fall anymore.. it was a good night of skiing (from 3pm to 9pm) no idea how many runs i did, but it was a ton of fun.
sunday though, was even better.
it was a rough start. we got there a little before 9am and did two runs before (even with gloves) the tips of my fingers got SUPER cold. i couldnt bend them to grip my poles, and they were hurting. we were by the lift and Tom asked me if i wanted to do another run. i paused and said no, that my hands were really bothering me.
i say THANK GOD for the person who invented those nifty hand warmers.
and omg, i have a high tolerance for pain, but when my fingertips were warming back up, tears were streaming from my eyes. i had to take the goggles off cause they were fogging up.. lol
once my fingers were warm again all was good. (i had the hand warmers tucked inside my gloves =])
anyway, to sum sunday up, i did 12 or 13 runs, did not fall a single time, and went on my first black diamond run. xD
they are supposed to get between 2 and 4 feet of snow this week so skiing next weekend should be great.
and hopefully this time we can get some more people to go with us.
Tom is super impressed with how i have picked up the knack of skiing..
having only gone 8 times since the end of january (as in day one on the bunny slope and scared stupid to day 8 going down a black run)
we were talking at dinner last night on the trip back to san jose and he said that on that first day he was ready to be patient and wait for me to be able to keep up etc and that yesterday, going down one of the runs he thought to himself.. i need to go faster, she is right there behind me haha. he has taught a few people, but has never seen anyone pick it up the way that i have.
he is hoping that the neighbors will be up this weekend to go skiing with us. when he was telling them that i had never been before and that he was going to teach me they were all "no, no make her take classes" it will be fun to be there when he tells them how far ive come since then. lol
AND, next weekend, he says i will get to go to the top of the other lift (the highest xD)
i fucking love this.
our little saying for me and skiing
"add snow and stir"
haha
cheers everyone
ive got to go to the store to get some stuff for pumpkin bread for Tom, and grab some stuff to make some cookies for the rope munch tonight.
busy busy!
