My passions, or maybe interests... Passion is a rather flavorful word.
Music is the driving force behind much of my life. I'm not an asshole, but music is definitely one thing I will express my opinion about, no matter who it pisses off. I guess you could say I'm a snob or an elitist, but honestly that would be premature, true opinion is an evolution.
Based on my looks, I'm a metalhead. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and this one is true. I am most certainly a purveyor of melodies of the evil nature. Something about it just gets the blood and the mind going.
Now combine metal with my other obsession, Egyptian mythology... evidenced by my name Heru-Ur (Horus the Elder), protector and god of the sky.
So now you have one of my favorite bands: NILE! Not from Africa though.... more like South Carolina.
Nile's what you would classify as Death Metal, which most don't exactly care for.
It's an acquired taste I guess.
Something a little more 'friendly' (HA!) might be the Melodic Death genre. More structured songs, and maybe some actual singing now and again! Cue another one of my favorites: Scar Symmetry.
Cheesy videos, I know. But you gotta admit there's some kind of talent there.
In the progression towards civilized music, band get less chaotic (maybe you think less noise), and even more structured. Easy to relate to, yet still very effective and talented. Bands like: A Perfect Circle.
Quite a leap through the music so far, but I'm not looking to educate everyone on the entire world of metal. To go into the details would mean days or weeks of over analysis and argument, haha. I just trying to give you a (very) little taste of what's in my head most of the time.

I've tried to listen to death metal and mroe times than not it just annoys the piss out of me. Maybe I'm getting to old. LOL!
