I guess I should update from my party weekend.
The weekend started with a good night at Casey Moores followed with an hours worth of sleep and then driving to California.
I got a few hours of nap-time in the car before I drove but I was still half asleep for my run. I stopped at Hadleys for some hippie goodness for my drive and even treated myself to a little bit of shopping at the outlet mall.
The first night in Long Beach consisted of some family and research time though I did see this awesome little fountain on a walk I took with my mother.
The research was for my ill-prepared plan of photographing the tidepools at Abalone Cove. Four hours of much needed sleep was had and then it was on to the tidepools. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything that really made me want to shoot it at the tidepools and even if I did, I'm not sure I was really comfortable with taking the 4x5 out in the water. I did get a shot of some flowing water headed out to sea though; I'm curious to how it will come out from the lab.
Hiking to the cove.
Hippie shoes, water and rocks make me a happy camper.
Stupid star fish I almost stepped on. I think he was suicidal...or just lazy.
After going on an adventure to find my way back to the car (including a 2+ mile trek back up the highway) I met up with my uncle and went sailing with him. Sailing strikes me as something I would have got really serious about if I grew up in a coastal area...it was a really nice and challenging afternoon with him. A few beers were had with my cousins before dinner
and I found this amazing piece of art:
The night brought on heading to a few bars with thrasher, doolittle and my cousins where I got blasted...I think the count was 6 tall boys, a pint and two shots of Jameson. I was toasted.
The fourth made for the best part of my trip; hanging out with the ever so lovely Katelyn. We went to an aquarium for a little afternoon date time and and so I could ghey out over jellies.
Shark riding is serious business
She named him Stewart
These were my favorite jellies there
These ones, not so much
These retards must have been drunk since they kept floating upside down
I forgot how much I miss the crap out of Katelyn...Im going to try and head back out in a few months so she can take me to Disney Land. After a late lunch, we headed back for a party with my cousins and company. At the party, I was given this to cook:
For the record, that is hands down the biggest sweet onion I have ever seen and it was delicious on the grill...a little butter and spices made for a party favorite. We walked down to the beach for some fireworks but quickly realized the broseph next to us put on a better show than the city could. That is not knock on Long Beach, it was just his fireworks stash was that good...I felt the rumble in my chest from them as he was no more than a 100 feet from us. After more drinking and fireworks, we split for bed.
Monday morning brought the most awkward family breakfast I've ever had and goodbyes followed with another long drive on no sleep and the end to my weekend.
