Last week was (aside for working etc.) mostly spent watching the third season of The Shield on DVD. Dramatic, riveting stuff, I can't praise it highly enough. At the weekend I also popped back to the UGC to catch Mr & Mrs Smith (highly amusing, with a great soundtrack and the ever-so-adorable Angelina) and War of the Worlds (great visuals, great acting, but no story to speak of, and an anti-climatic faithful-to-the-original ending). Also caught The Punisher finally on DVD (a few good moments, but otherwise average and a bit of a mess).
Also spent some time getting my 'office' in order and have actually started writing, wahey! Well, actually it's less than a 1000 words so far, but it's a start. The main problem is trying not to get distracted by other vying ideas. I have a variety of novels, screenplays, games etc. all competing for space in my head, and more and more keep cropping up the more I think about the rest of them. Tsk. Despite my usual procrastination I am finally determined to get some of them out. Unfortunately a lot of them also involve doing research into bizarro subjects such as biochemistry, nuclear fusion, rocket science, cryogenics, Australian aboriginal myth, the Kabbalah, global catastrophe management and asteroid watching. Heh well at least I've got something to keep me busy until Deadwood, Lost and Wonderfalls start on TV later this month...
