Heh spaz that I am for some reason I thought there were Star Wars previews yesterday rather than *next* Thursday, doh *slaps forehead*. For weeks I'd been entertaining the false assumption that it was coming out while I was away this weekend. Consolation I suppose next week is that I'm *not* away which means I might be more likely to grab a seat to see it, assuming I hang around long enough. :arr:
So while I was there at the cinema I decided to see THHGTTG which I'd previously avoided due to the many bad reviews. TBH I didn't think it was *that* crap, but then again I didn't think it was that great either. I agree with the masses in that much of the humour was lost, and Mos Def's mumbly delivery was just terrible. There were also large sections of the story which I though were baffling new and not in the book, but then it's been quite a while since I last read it. Martin Freeman was great as Arthur, and although they messed up Trillian, I couldn't help but find Zooey Deschanel terribly, wonderfully cute.
But anyway. I'm off first thing in the morning to the salubrious locale of Burton-on-Trent, of which I know virtually nothing, except that it's somewhere in the Midlands. I'll be storming the Beer 'n' Pretzels gaming convention with a whole bunch of friends to participate in the UK Qualifier for the Vampire: the Eternal Struggle CCG European Championship (which actually involves more beer and shouting than actually card playing). Haha and just when you thought I couldn't get any geekier eh..?

good luck qualifying. i played the tutorial on line (and the magic one too). i think i like VTES better though. its more complex. a bit weird to get your head around the games as a beginner, but a couple of rounds and i think i'm ready for real play.
rainwolfkin:
yes, i'd very much like that. are you free anytime this coming weekend?
