I am constantly amazed by the people I have to work with. Well, mainly one guy I have to work with (the others are rarely here and when they are they're doing their own thing). On Tuesday afternoon he asked me to do some debt chasing of direct debit customers (a very manual, tedious and time consuming process) and then on Wednesday lunchtime it seems he went through the whole list again himself, effectively wasting half a day's work (either me or him, you decide). Today he's wasted hours and hours playing with voice recordings for our phone system, and despite the progress I made previously he's still not happy with the volume or the quality. He's been messing with different microphones, PCs, and software apps himself and he's *still* not happy, but he doesn't know what he's doing and it's clear he hasn't employed any methodology or logic to gain any understanding of where the problem might really lie. And he refuses to acknowledge the volume of other tedious work I have to do on a daily basis which prevents me from doing a much better job at it for him on the timescale he demands. He's now rushed off to PC World convinced that a new mike will help, even though we have 2 or 3 quite servicable mikes here in the office already (me excluded of course). Arrrrrgghghghghghghghghghgh!!!!!!!!!!!
But anyway. Ranting aside, this weekend should actually be fairly quiet (assuming my mother doesn't decide to invite herself over). I'll probably catch The Interpreter tomorrow night in the Docklands on my way home (if anyone wants to join me they're more than welcome). A lie in, some chores, and then a trip to the pub Saturday. An attempt to rescue my drum kit from a studio in Southend on Sunday, followed by some RPGing, dinner with family and hopefully a reasonably early night.
In other news my Jedi boots have arrived, and my cloak is awaiting pickup on Saturday, but there's still no sign of my lightsaber. Thankfully plan b is to steal a couple off my mate who works for Hasbro when I see him at Salute next week. So I'm pretty much sorted for the convention weekend after next. Anyone have any questions for Nathan Fillion et al when I see them?
