So Friday I went to some pub in Kings Cross with some old friends and proceeded to get heinously mashed whilst dancing to a very eclectic (and often cheesy) selection of rock, punk and goth music. Had to fight to hang onto my cowboy hat as everyone wanted to try it on/steal it, plus met some guy whose band (The Model? The Modern? I forget) has apparently just scored a major record deal, and another guy who is the pierced zombie extra who had the motorbike accident that gets mentioned in the commentary of Shawn of the Dead.
Saturday stumbled home from crashing at Clapham Junction did a whole bunch of chores and then wandered down to the UGC to catch Constantine. The first screening turned out to be booked up so I watched Meet the Fokkers first, which while having a few amusing moments and some great character acting, TBH it was all a bit contrived and a bit lame. Constantine was better thank God, although Keanu himself was only marginally acceptable in the lead (you still keep expecting him to say 'woah' or 'dude' any moment), the rest of casting is pretty strong, and I enjoyed the dark, unpleasant, religious themes that pervade throughout. Not sure how well it stands up to the original comic, not having ever read it. I'm sure purists and critics alike will hate it.
Sunday was the usual trip east to see my ma and carry on with our latest RPG game. Weekend gone, again, and very little to show for it *sigh*
And so back at work again. This week I will mostly be be playing cards, watching Babylon 5, seeing fpkk for a quiet drink, sketching out an idea for a novel-writing competition, possibly hitting the town on Friday, followed by a wedding Saturday and American Head Charge at the Garage on Sunday. Go me.
(P.S. Bargain of the week is Woolworth's are doing Will & Grace series DVD boxes buy 1 get 1 free 29.99)
