Well Valentines has been and gone, and it wasn't really that painful. I got a mystery card (posted by my mum I suspect as usual) but otherwise managed to pass through the day without any other romantic reference (except for people mentioning it on board such as these).
The gig last night was kinda cool, kinda mixed feeling really. First off I go in at 6.45 when the tickets says 'doors open 7pm' to find Juliette already playing grr only ended up catching 2 songs although they sounded good. Never seen the Astoria so empty though, I guess most people were fooled like me. Place filled up a bit more (with random musos of all ages) for the next band, who were absolute, unmitigated s***, their only redeeming feature being the rabid enthusiasm of their black female cockney vocalist (most likely on speed or summat). In contrast though soulwax were astonishingly. And surprisingly young and fresh-faced. They were all equally at home playing guitars or attacking machinery which looked like it was pulled from the control room of the original 70's Death Star. I had thought a lot of it was sampled and looped, but every note and sound was played live using some electronic gizmo or other. All a lot louder and heavier than I expected (one of them used a flying V for god's sake) and impossible not to shake your booty to. Couldn't be bothered to wait for LCD Soundsystem as there was not way they could measure up, and it was a school night after all.
Hmm now two days more of work to get through, and then off to Nottinghamshire for full-on geek game action!

My lord, that's spectacularly gamey. The high water mark of my gaming life was shortly after college. I was running two weekly games, and freelancing for white wolf. Ah, those were the days. Now, I have to schedule ahead to be able to make my one monthly game. Envy envy envy.
