Ok. Finally time to update properly.
The weekend before xmas my friend/lodger stumbled home with two fingers pointing the wrong way. He was so drunk he couldn't remember how he'd done it, and just wanted to go to bed. Of course I had to talk him into getting a taxi to hospital and after sitting there with him for ~6 hours it turns out he'd broken *and* dislocated his ring finger just above the knuckle. His hand was mostly black and the size of a tennis ball. I can't imagine the force he'd need to hit his hand to cause that kind of damage. F***ing drunken bastard.
On xmas eve I woke up to find that my phone had stopped working. It was logged into the network but none of the buttons would work *at all*. Unfortunately I last upgraded in August but had that one knicked so this was the previous one, which was of course no longer under warranty *sigh* With xmas and new year looming I couldn't *not* have a phone, but I ended up having to shell out over 100 for a new one. Oh, and PC World sold me the wrong wireless kit so I had to take it back for a different one.
Xmas eve was spent at a local and nostalgic haunt called the Pink Toothbrush. Was nice to catch up with some old faces and my bro'. But then my friend (yes the same one with the broken hand) proceed to lose his ticket for his jacket so he couldn't get it back, and then yell drunkenly and threateningly at people outside the club so we had to forcibly manhandle him into a cab to avoid things from getting worse *sigh*
Xmas day was spent at my mum's sleeping, opening prezzies, eating, drinking, watching Half Troll and Shawn of the Dead on DVD, and playing Scattergories, Balderdash and Robo Rally. I won the Robo Rally, but did miserably at the other two.
Boxing Day I headed home and vegatablised nicely on the sofa and then finally unstuck myself from the Black Mesa compound in HL2.
On the Monday two chums came over and we stayed up until 4am playing multi-player Rome:TW, Army of Darkness the card game, LOTR Risk and some more Robo Rally. We failed to successfully lay seige to Rome, but I did win Risk and Robo Rally. Hurrah for me!
Wednesday I had to go back to work and on Thursday I had to *get up* at 4am to catch the first Eurostar out to Paris for my step-sister's wedding. The formal bit was in the centre, but then the rest took place at an old chateau (originally built in the 12th century apparently) right out in the sticks (and nowhere near the Versaille after all as it turned out). Had Moroccan food and entertainment before the church ceremony on NYE. Stayed up and boozed until fireworks at midnight, and then smoked a *seriously* big cigar before turning in around 3am. Was quite an experience, although I'm pretty estranged from my dad's family and I didn't know most of the other people there. It was also a particularly couply affair with not a single worthy available lady present, and I couldn't help but being struck by how sad I was not to have anyone special to share the moment with *sigh*
After travelling all day yesterday to get home again, I'm now at home again where it's nice and warm. Doing my washing and making a fuss of the cats, as I've not seen them much over the last week or so. Will be vegatabilising some more with my new DVDs until Tuesday when I have to go back to work again tsk.
So hope everyone else had a good one. Here's to 2005 being more eventful, exciting and rewarding than 2004!

hl2 deathmatch is hilarious. i can hardly sit through one round without laughing. it's got something to do with throwing explosive barrels at people. either that, or i'm easily amused.
maybe we can play one day.
