It's 5am and I'm sitting here nursing my e-mail while our flaky developers in the Ukraine upgrade our servers. Such is the life of a techie trying to earn brownie points *sighs*

The Ebay-athon continues apace with me dumping a whole load of comics i should never have bought in the first place. Made about 50 so far but I have *so* much crap I can get rid you wouldn't believe...

Was gutted to miss the Newcastle mega-meet, but I simply couldn't afford to blow 100+ over the weekend on travel, digs and booze. I consoled myself by going to the Fortean Time Unconvention instead where I learned that:

- The original Spring-Heeled Jack of London may have been a wealthy aristocrat (whose name I can't remember) who was apparently well-known at the time for running about the streets of London scaring commoners in costume

- The British Government has declassified and released all available files on the MOD's research into UFOs thanks to the campaigning of a small group of researchers lead by Dr. David Clarke of Sheffield Hallam University. Apparently the files revealed so far reveal that the government has been baffled by a small number of sightings, but have been even more baffled at the constant accusations of conspiracy and cover-ups.

- There have been documented accounts of rains of animals (e.g. frogs, toads, fish, worms) from the sky, and also toads found inside rocks since Medieval times

- A Czech researcher in pursuit of the Golem of Prague was given access to the loft of the Old/New Synagogue in Prague's Jewish Old Town but didn't find anything up there. He thinks the legend of the Golem may be based on the local Rabbi taking in a mentally disturbed man as a servant, who subsequently went psycho on the town.

- The same Czech researcher recently travelled to deepest darkest Russia in pursuit of Siberie's Valley of Death - a place where small artifical mounds - said to be cursed- leading to mysterious subterranean chambers have been seen. He found some mysterious circular markings in the tundra but suffered from a sudden illness (akin to radiation poisoning) and could not proceed with the expedition. Russian explorers are out there now following this up.

- The association of Dracula with bats has no basis in fact or history and comes as a result of knowledge about eastern European culture and zoology of the new world (where vampire bats can be found) reaching public conciousness at about the same time at the turn of the 20th Century.

- The original mysteries originally reported in Puerto Rico and attributed to the Chupacabra may in be satisfactorily explained by the activities of ants, mongooses and porcupines.

- The US government apparently refuses to consider UFOs a threat to national security, in spite of the fact that a mysterious object - captured successuflly on radar - recently 'buzzed' the Bush ranch in Texas.

- Richard Freeman from the Centre of Fortean Zoology travelled to the Caucasus Mountains in Russia and came very close to having an encounter with the Almasty - a hairy man-like creature commonly seen in the area by locals.

- Kittie Klaw, paranormal investigator and burlesque performer, is awesome and has some extremely sexy friends

Just over six weeks to go until xmas now. eeek Crikey I don't know where this year's gone. blackeyed Anyone else started buying their xmas presents yet...? wink

I believe it's the way forward but I reserve the right to change my mind after the day smile

Nah, I think it's gonna be ok, it is my choice and I stand by it smile

I will be seeing them all at some point over the Christmas break, but when I want to, not when it is dictated.

Hope you're going to have a good one hon.
