The trip on Saturday to Norwich was mostly ok. Lovely to see some old university type faces again. Got majorly hammered by mixing between lager, wine and Guinness all night. Was puzzled by everyone's particular fascination with pants fizzy white wine (Cava anyone?). Was more puzzled about being refused entry to a nightclub for being 'too casual' when I was clearly the smartest one in the crowd (must have been the beard). F*** em. Just hung out in the pub where we started with a few of the others, and after hearing people moaning the following morning in retrospect I missed exactly zilcho. Sunday was spent mostly recovering and then journeying home again. The massivo SGUK meet would obviously have been a more fun (goddammit) but a friend is a friend and they're only 30 once.
In other news kitchen ETA is 32 days and counting. Still need to find floor/wall tiles, a worktop and arrange for an electrician to come do his magic. Oh trepidation. I'll be so happy when it's done, but I'm so *not* looking forward to all the hassle of doing it.
Otherwise I'm mostly daydreaming about dinosaurs, vampires, Victorians and covert spy operations, although not necessarily in that order. My DVD collection is definitely growing faster than my time and ability to watch can cope with (tsk naughty impulse buying) when I can spare it the box is devoted to Alias (season 4 now), Battlestar Galactica and Life on Mars.
Yes all very domestic, geeky and mediocre I know. I bumped into a friend the other day who was overjoyed and a new job and a new girlfriend. I think that's exactly what needs to happen to me. If anyone has any bright ideas for lifestyle makeovers or fun injections then please do let me know...
