I watched Alone in the Dark last night, with fpkk alongside me for moral support. It's been a long time since I've seen such a festering piece of cinematic gobshite. When people scorned the work of Uwe Boll I thought that maybe they were joking or exaggerating. And even if it was bad, surely there would still be some fun to be had somewhere? Some redeeming feature? Maybe? Not bloodly likely. This guy's crapping out the filmic equivalent of a long line of turds and no-one seems to be able to stop him. Why the likes of Christian Slater and Stephen Dorff would need to stoop that low is entirely beyond me. If only I had a sniper rifle and diplomatic immunity...
In contrast though I did go and see Match Point and Jarhead at the weekend, which makes a nice counterpoint to the above. Match Point wasn't exactly thrilling but it was nicely made and some very well observed pieces of dialogue. There's hope for Woody Allen yet. Jarhead was slick, and despite it's apparently apolitical stance it's still pretty political to choose this subject matter at this time. Basically the message is: war is pretty f***ed up. Difficult to disagree really. Jamie Foxx completely steals it though..
In other news on Saturday I spent 2,000 in B&Q on Saturday on a new kitchen. My cream/yellow/brown/orange 70s formica is finally going in a skip. I think my credit card company panicked slightly at the outlay (they did ring me several times to check it was me) but f*** 'em, they'll get paid. It's all due to be delivered at the beginning of March which should give me plenty of time to get the old crap ripped out and the electrics sorted. The biggest hurdle seems to be finding some decent green ceramic/stone floor tiles - apparently it's not fashionable and hardly anyone does anything that comes anywhere close... *sighs*
Looking forward to seeing Underworld 2 this weekend (even if most people did hate the first one), maybe back-toback with Geisha, Cock-and-Bull Story or Matador. Goddamn so many films so little time!

Ilike Woody Allen but prob won't get to that one as usual. I'm sure the floor tiles will turn up somewhere; it's funny how if you have a particular feature you want they seem to become hard to get hold of.
