Well here we are in 2006. TBH I don't know where 2005 went - it seemed to pass by in some kind of bland (a la Gap in beige) blur. Relatively innocuous, relatively unexciting. Or maybe it's just me being overly demanding or expectatious (is that a word?). I did after all go to a bunch of cool gigs and hung out with a bunch of great people. I got to meet the cast of Firefly/Serenity more than once and I went to a bunch of games- and/or comic- related shows for free courtesy of Hasbro's tab. I remortagaged with a surprising lack of hassle (compared to previous experiences) and I'll be buying lots of cool stuff for my house very soon with the money I freed up. The board game I designed finally arrived, and I have more similar projects lined up as a result. So maybe not that bland after all?
I didn't really manage many of my resolutions from last new year though. Although I did some writing, it only amounted to a short story and a handful of prologues. Although I bought an electric guitar it didn't get further than learning a few scales and SOAD covers. Although I vowed to get fit, I've only really been doing a handful of situps every few days (or weeks or whatever). And although I intended to start driving I couldn't afford the lessons, and the old banger my mum passed on to me has long since rusted to scrap in my drive. Not that I'm particularly lazy, but I am *far* too easily distracted. What I need to someone to kick my ass into action all the time (preferably with a high heel and a slender ankle attached). Hmm maybe this year eh...?
Here's wishing everyone a belated happy new year and a prosperous 2006!
