Well I'm back from my latest weekend of craziness. Thankfully this will the last one for a while so I can have a few weeks of relative quiet to relax and recover *yawns*
Perhaps the high point of the weekend was meeting and chatting with the lovely Christina Hendricks, although doing the same with Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin and Nathan Fillion was also a pleasure. In fact Nathan did a magic trick on me which I'm still trying to work out. The link between these people is of course the TV series Firefly and the subsequent film based on the series called Serenity.
If you haven't seen both the show and the film yet then shame on you. They represent the brilliance of Jos Whedon far more deftly and succinctly than either Buffy or Angel, and the fans of the show are perhaps more intelligent and discerning than the audience of any other show, license or genre than I could name.
But anyway, I digress. The weekend was spent meeting the stars and the fans, and also getting hammered. Perhaps the most entertaining moment was seeing Jonathon Woodward stone drunk at 11.00am on Sunday morning (he had an excuse it was his birthday) baptising the audience with whisky under his alter-ego the 'Reverend Jonny Wallet' (he does have a web site called http://www.jonnywallet.com but - perhaps fittingly - it is currently broken). There are pictures in my folders for the inquisitive.
In other news in the last week or so I have:
- reached episode 10 of Alias season 1 on DVD
- watched the latest episodes of Lost, Carnivale, Rome and The Dead Zone on UK TV
- taped the pilot of Threshold to watch this week
- re-read the first two books of George R R Martin's 'Song of Ice & Fire' series (as a reminder before reading his newest volume 'A Feast For Crows')
- started my Christmas shopping
- playtested the Eve CCG (to go with the Eve Online MMORPG)
- been shafted by my bank for going too overdrawn (and trusting them to let them know when they didn't)
Hope all is well with everyone else?
