So there seems to be this universal response to the question of change. It is uttered continuely from the mouths of my predominatelly nihilistic, and apathetic generation. An excuse to avoid the tough question, an attempt to subvert the realities going on around them, a "truth" of sorts but only in that it is a self fullfilling prophecy. The meme seemed to pick it up, run with it, and spread it from one side of the country, to the other. I don't know if these kids picked this up in some introduction to contemporary philosophy class, if it is some how standardized in freshman intro classes, but it seems pretty universal.
"It seems to me that every generation want's to see change happen in their life times, I think this is selfish, we're nothing special, the world isn't "fucked up" it's always "fucked up" in the eyes of a generation. You are just selfish, and want to see the "big change" happen in your life time."
I have heard variations of this "every generations is the same, you all think something big is coming" all across the country. The sad thing is, it's usually from really smart people...
Well let's get a few things out there. Big changes are happening, the world is changing quickly, and while yes things have always been "changing" believe however, despite the nihilism we will continue to see more rapid and more complex change whether we want to accept it or not. The question is are you going to be there ready for it, or are you going to be distracted, all the time justifying your lack of attention with your semi-complete understanding of what it is to be a complex thinker?
Just because people of the past thought in similar ways, does not justify your lack of attention today!

i didn't say why they dropped me because they didn't really tell me. all they said was that the editor in chief decided against having comics in my section.
