Has anyone else noticed that this year there is a lot of hype going on in the US about 9-11? There are all these "memorials" planned, there is a new movie out in theaters about the flight in PA, a mini series by ABC about how the Clinton administration failed to prevent it, CNN is re-airing thier documentation of the event (but it's only available on the Monday)... A new tape was just released by Al Qaeda's press core (who knew they had a press core) that shows Bin Laden with the "alleged" mastermind. Bush just released today that he was holding 9-11 terrorists in secret detention facilities in Europe. My University is doing a "dance performance" to honor the dead...

Anyone else notice this?

When 9-11-01 happened I was camping in the woods doing a leadership retreat. I found out right after the second plane hit the towers. I had no access to a TV', but I heard that Bush had "declared war" on whoever did it. I knew thousands of people had just died, and I burst into tears...

...But my tears weren't for them. Well, they were, kind of. I cried not because a few thousand people were killed in a random act of violence (which is horrid), but rather because I knew that like the bullet that started the first World War, this act would lead the world down a path of misery. I cried because Al Qaeda couldn't have picked a worse time for their attack. I cried because I knew that our republican government, and our capitalistic system, combined with all the tension brewing as a result of globalization and the exploitation of the Middle East would only bring us to one thing. That thing would be utter, and complete warfare on a broad front. It would result in the deaths of millions of people, and it would last for several years (probably my whole life).

I cried because I thought that this world was past that.

What can I say I was an idealist.

I hope that the souls of the people that died on that day have found peace. If they haven't though I hope that they haunt the lives of every person regardless of race or religion that has used their deaths as a sounding board, and rallying cry for their right to kill more people.

thanx heresy. smile

yea, it is strage going from an anarchist scene to a hippy scene. hippies are just weird and say things just to be weird. you get anarchists who do that too, but not as much. meh, i'm doin' okay with construction workers and tattoo people.
