So the state of South Dakota banned abortion yesterday. ALL forms of abortion, even under the circumstances of rape and incest (and if the mother's life is at risk, if the doctor does not do EVERYTHING to save the feutus as well as the mother they violate the law).
I saw it coming a while ago,
I'm not surprised at all...
We will see the battle for women's rights shifted into the next gear.
I am pro choice, have been my whole life (that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who reads this), but here are my thoughts on the anti-abortion movement:
I am not christian but I understand enough of christian practice, and enough about jesus' teachings to say this. According to what jesus actual said, NO MAN has the right to speak for, interpret, or determine through his acts the "will of god". It is not the place of ANY human to enforce the will of god, to do so goes directly against "god". No matter the intentions, all humans will always sin if they choose to do so. Or atleast this is according to what jesus actually said.
Who the hell are these assholes that are not only arrogant enough to assume they have the right to dictate the choices of women, but also arrogant enough to assume that they know what their god's plan is?
When we were in the Met this weekend we saw a suit of armor from an Italian Crusader that had the latin inscription "And God Made Man so that Man Could be God" across the breast plate. Welcome to the new age of men acting as god's (some of us have been watching it for a while now, come in, have a seat, let's figure out how we can survive the neo-crusade...)
