have you ever been forced to look at your friends while they suffer immensely and realize how excellent they are and how much you love them based on how they behave under terrible conditions?
we just got back from the hospital visiting a friend who just found out she'll be on dialysis for the rest of her life unless she can get a kidney transplant. she's been there for a few days and will be for a few more. that's 3 times a week, for like 4 hours per time for the dialysis. i think she's 27? 28? she's super weak, but we went for a walk around the hospital and talked. she said while she sits there getting her blood cleaned (because her kidneys will no longer do it for her) she's going to learn how to knit and how to speak spanish. she said her rap name was going to be die-alley-sis.
her hubby said he wished her mom would go home so he could get in a little hospital dry humping with the wife. he's been at the hospital all day everyday since this began. he's got a beard!
we all laughed and made crass jokes and made fun of other patients and so forth. all in the midst of this awfull awful mess.
to be able to keep their spirits so high and their off color senses of humor up to snuff is so inspiring to me and i love them both terriibly.
bad things happen to good people all the time.

And thanks yo! THe copies are for a local vegan restaurant (bay leaf cafe) that has a book section, but not enough money to buy anything on their own. Gotta spread the good word ya know.
I wanted to add that vegandotcom shirt to the order but can't get your page to load.
I guess I gota spread the good things in life out.
