on the plane ride to alabama:
"our meal today is a crossant sandwich with ham, cheese, and egg, and a banana. and for the vegetarians onboard....a banana...."
the trip, as always, was bitter sweet. i got to see my excellent uncle and aunt, but also got to hear my cousin say something to the effect that it would be fine with him if we still owned slaves.
i also got the rare treat of eating lima beans, figuring everything was ok, but being told afterwards that they were probably made with beef stock. yum. this was a day or two after mad cow broke.
i got to stand near my uncle, who trades in cattle, while we watched a report about the effects of mad cow on the economy. he was perhaps cringing inside while i was cheering inside.
the question everybody had at the end of michelle and mines visit was "so....will you come back?" as if to say, was the trip good enough for us to come visit them all again.
hmmm.....
