today has always been a bittersweet holiday for me. On one hand I am so thankful for all of my rights and my beautiful "freedom" but as I selfishly gorge myself on meat and booze. I can't think if anything else but the presence of racism sexism and class separation. Of my Cherokee great grandmother suffering at the hands of Uncle Sam. The broken treaties the broken promises. The fact that rich pigs sleep happily in their beds at night.that fraternities get away with rape. That nature is suffering. That the government actively has a say in everything that I do. So cheers to you America you wonderful fickle bitch! I am equally grateful and perturbed. I am a patriot to a land, but definitely not this flag. Here's to you great grandma! Here's to all of the poverty and the cheap chemicals coursing through my veins!
