I've chosen a knife for myself. it was a long process of shopping around but i believe this is my knife for one simple reason:
well, that beauty and the fact that "Mastersmith Heimo Roselli refuses to build anything non-functional or unnecessary into his knives. Each knife is the embodiment of the demands of the merciless Northland. The unessential is detrimental." oh hell yeah!
that is my new collecting knife and it's going to make sure my cuts are light for the plants. i happen to love the birch handle, it really embodies the spirit of survival manifested in a plant. the birch family lives hard and short. they die after 60-80 years, which for a tree is very short.
EDIT
i got tired of that post in the middle and just hit the button for no real reason.
anyway, for more information on birch tribe trees just ask me. i've been learning too much about them the past week. also, they fall across the roads here all the time and generally are a tree that is the punk teen of the forest.
past that i started my Salix/Equisetum basket earlier only to be called in to work. and then i wrote herb papers when i got home for class this morning. poo in a shoe! but tomorrow i'll be able to get the basket made, i think, and read for my class on tuesdays. now if i could just remember which class that is i'd be in business.
other than that i got some great news at work this weekend. they want to bump me to serving by the end of spring. that means at least another $100 each night i work as compared with now and also a lot more fun. evidently i did such a good job friday juggling cocktailing the patio, barbacking and then serving the patio that i got noticed. all i had to do was the work of two or three people! still, it's great and i'm excited.
have a great day you lovely people!
