well, i figure life is about as good as can be expected in this given situation.
i've been really introspective the past few months and have lost touch with the world at large. can't complain, it's been nice to be away between my ears.
maybe i've found a few new thoughts to roll out into the world. they're really recycled from somebody else but that doesn't really matter that much. we're all the recycled products of countless other men.
here's what's up:
we're presently destroying the earth, yeah? pretty universally recognized that if it isn't here it's coming. and what has our culture done? we have very directly brought it about by living outside the limits of the rules of proper living set down in the web of life since the beginning of life here. we are destroying diversity and that is the one thing that will destroy everything. because there are a great many organisms that could survive in the new environment we're pushing into the fore but they are getting fewer every day as our war with the earth goes on and on.
and we are at war with the world, don't think it different. why else to we need to subjugate the forests to make room for fields, kill the wolves to make room for sheep and cattle? those things we feed on we let live, everything else must go. the endless diversity of the rain forest must be used up for crop land.
we could indeed fix this problem if we are to admit we don't know how to live properly. and we obviously don't know. for all the good things we have created at least equal bad. anton chekov said it best when he stated that while man has an infinite potential for good he has been, up to this point, a destroyer. we devour the earth and leave nothing much like a plague of locusts.
keep that in mind next time you eat a cow, a piece of corn, drink beer and wine and milk. they come at the price of the ultimate destruction of the world.
