alright, i feel the need to tell you all about a beer. this beer is an endangered beer, much like the resident orca pods or the spotted owl up here in the pacific northwest. it's only available in oregon and washington with any consistency and sometimes at trader joe's- so maybe california. it's by a brewery called hair of the dog based in portland and it is amazing. just amazing. its name is fred and it would make an alcoholics anonymous meeting decide to let out early. not that i'm advocating for this but just as a statement of truth; it could make grown men weep for joy.
seriously fantastic. amazing. transcendant. ethereal. great. grand. worth spending more than what i would for a case and only getting a six pack kind of good.
it's one of those deceptively powerful beers because it is so superbly balanced that you taste the hops, you taste the malts and you have a sneaking suspicion there's a lot of alcohol there. still, you don't know how good it is until it comes up on you like a mack truck in a dark alley. i love it when a beer does that!
hankering satisfied.
