alright, as kexp is so kindly reminding me, it's high time i put together my favorite albums of the year.
built to spill is on the list with their newest (in too damned many years!), R.B. Reed is on for his little ten song offering, the Blood Brothers for "young machetes" because it almost melted my brain, ummm...somebody non-local has to make it here! so i'll pu A Hawk and A Hacksaw for "the way the wind blows." oh! and quarter-pounder for both of theirs: the self-titled release and the very new "You Seek it like a dream but when you find it you become it's prey." if you like folk at all you need to listen to them. reminds me a lot of the incredible string band.
For albums i've gotten and loved but are old i've now got three full disks of television and i have no idea how my musical world was built without them in it. fucking fantastic and so instrumental to modern sounds. oh golly...also have to put the vashti bunyan/animal collective collaboration from last year up here. it's only four songs but it's haunting.
happy listening, hopefully you can cleanse your ears of the kenny g. holiday mix cd! the man needs to put down the god damned tenor sax before i hunt him down for an emerald city showdown!!

I have a pretty intense love/hate relationship with the south. Right now I hate it.
