Best thing i've heard is that when you lose someone by drama of travel or death, The one left behind, the one who had no function or ability to change the events which led to the loss, Grieves for the time they thought they had in the future with that person. So its not so much the loss of the bozo rather it is the loss of the future you had imagined and expected to take place (however long or short that future may have been expected to be).
