Looks like I'm in the show. From the read through, it certainly didn't strike me as overly funny. Which is too bad, seeing as it is a comedy. Ah well. My part is mercifully short, and I don't feel an obligation to invite all of my friends to come see it. Who knows, maybe it will play better than it read. But when a script resorts to needing an Elvis impersonator, well...

Day one of my vacation is now in the history books. Wasted most of it running around doing errands and stuff, but it needed to be done, so I guess it wasn't a full waste of time. I also donated blood in there, so I feel I gave a gift back to the community. smile

Finished reading the Dark Tower series from Stephen King. Really, really good. Highly recommended. I want to pick up the Dark Tower Concordance and read through that now, to see what I may have missed in my readings, since it took me about 3 years to finish the whole thing. I'm really curious to see what Ron Howard will do with the series now that he has it in his hands. Wonder who he'll cast as Roland, now that Clint is a bit too old to take on the mantle of gunslinger...

silversurfer:
Does the Elvis impersonator play Elvis, or does he play an Elvis impersonator?

This question reminds me of a discussion I had with someone today, about the penny. The back of the penny has a picture of the Lincoln Memorial, and if you look closely at a penny that's not too worn, you can see the statue of Lincoln. So, Lincoln is on the back of the penny as well as the front, which is pretty cool. But of course, the back of the penny has a picture of a statue of Lincoln, whereas the front of the penny has a picture of the real Lincoln.

Anyway, Lincoln aside, I think that Stuffy Chaucer Historian could be a good role for you. My advice would be to play it sincere, but not too hammy. In the spirit of the late Leslie Nielsen, as it were.
