Leaving to do a reading for a new play in about 30 minutes. Just found out about it yesterday afternoon, talked to the director over the phone last night, and she pretty much wants me sight unseen. I guess that the read-through will be the formal audition, but it sounds like if I want the part it's mine.
The play is called "Geoffrey Chaucer's Flying Circus", and it's a retelling of the Canterbury Tales, but all comedied up. The part they want me for is "Stuffy Chaucer Historian". I have a monologue right at the top of the show, then don't show up until the beginning of the second act, and then again at the end of the second act. Minimal rehearsals, and the venue is like 10 minutes from my house. She's willing to work around my very hectic schedule, so that's all good. Could be crap, could be funny. Won't know until I get into it.
But I'll give it a shot.
