Sigh.

Found out last Friday that my best friend's father passed away. He was my first scoutmaster, and was a pretty major influence on the person that I am today. I ended up finding out later in life that he was actually not a very nice guy, but I do still owe him a debt. So I am planning on going downstate to my hometown for the wake and funeral this weekend.

At least, I WAS planning on going.

This afternoon, my mother in law was transferred to ICU when her blood pressure dropped dangerously low during dialysis. My wife freaked out (understandable) and we spent the afternoon at the hospital. Long story made short, she came dangerously close to dying this afternoon, and is not out of the woods. They are trying to walk a fine line keeping her hydrated but not over hydrating her since her kidneys aren't working. The doctors say they think she will recover from this, but we are preparing for the worst. So the odds are very good that I won't be making the trip down for the funeral so I can stay up here and support my family.

So...ugh.
