Music
Electronic music scene is thriving in this town in a big way and I've admittedly and emptily been enjoying the trend in the past 30 days. Although, I like to show off my premium dance moves, I don't enjoy it like most other people do, to me it dissolves to repetition and emptiness, (especially when you run out of drugs) there's no sense of community (esp. when the drugs run out) and it seems that to me it's best enjoyed in small doses, but you know, different strokes to move the world, right?
I'm back to listening to live music and I can honestly say that I missed it.
One group I've been listening to lately is Of Montreal, they're this giant fucking band from Georgia, like 7 members or something, that's released a shit load of music because they've been around forever. I don't know why I didn't know of them, but I know now and I can honestly say that I'm thoroughly impressed. The music is really strange, captivating and original and it perfectly marries with the simple, yet passionately sung lyrics that really hit home a lot of the time. If you haven't listened (you probably have) give them a try:
Second is PHANTOGRAM, they're debut ( i think) full length ep Eyelid Movies is as addicting as tonguing the burn on the roof of your mouth. It's basically a bunch of looping synth beats, fake drums, distorted guitars, and echoing or sometimes digitized lyrics sung by either members of this two piece. Totally insane, totally dark. Give it a try:
On a side note, I hope the keyboardist of Phantogram marries me (even though I know she would divorce me after a month)
Till next time.
