King Kong Falls

I remember how it was
In the clearing
Touching my little golden doll
She was growing
This strange white fur
That would come off
When I rubbed it
And I remember
It was pleasant just doing that
Like peeling a rare fruit
Hard to find
But good to taste
It was so nice
A lull in the constant duels
With dinosaurs
And birds of prey…
And she didn't seem so
Quite afraid of me anymore
Just squirmed in pleasing ways
As I pulled off bits of that fur.
I remember how it smelled
Strange when I brought it to my nostrils
Musky, a little dangerous
More exciting than the charge into battle
I was addicted right away
I wanted to stand there
And smell it
All day.
