An Elderly Lady I Know

Her eyes
Those rapacious
Cave dwellers
Hunt for more light
As the sun prepares
To take
Its final bow
They hunt
For a bloom child
Of flowers
Something she never grew
In all her
Many
Window boxes.
She craves
More paintings
More quilts
More
LIGHT
But bats have come
To roost
In her eyes
Rain down
Darkness
Shadows
Hover in her house
Like the ghosts
Of long gone family members
She reads her Bible
Close with a
Magnifying glass now
She wants Jesus
To wear a coat
Of many colors
She wants Jesus
To be a rainbow now
And baptize her
With light
But it won't be so
It won't be
So…
