Sugar

She wore a yellow sundress
With flowers on the hem
She said her name was Amber Lee
And could I be her friend?
I was drunker than the Middle Ages
Falling on the bar
And so with little small talk
I stumbled to her car
Where she said Sugar Sugar
Buy me something sweet.
We rode out to the airport
Just to watch the planes take off
She said I got a husband somewhere
Stuck out on a rock
The radio played rap songs
As I fumbled for a glove
I said I don't remember your name
But I think I am in love
And a 707 screamed Sugar
Buy me something sweet.
She said you got a gentle face
I liked it right away
I said I got no time for this
Are you looking to get laid?
She said I got this phone bill
And I really need it paid
I said I got no money
I'm just another working slave
And the whole world screamed Sugar
Buy me something sweet
The baby needs more formula
And the car it needs more gas
And nowhere in the numbers
Is my hand up on your ass
So we sat there at the airport
Waiting for a train
To take us back to Our Town
Hoping someone could explain
Sugar Sugar
Buy me something sweet
Sugar Sugar
Buy me something sweet
Sugar Sugar
Buy me something
Sweet…
