Every Peace Of Mind.

I met him on a bus
He was going to New Mexico
Abandoned his furniture shop in
Minnesota
Things hadn't been the same for him since he left the army
A thousand centuries ago
I met her on a plane
She was going to Toronto
Was going home to see her grandma
Who was dying
She kept staring at a page
In the Sharper Image Catalogue
As we began our slow descent...
You know there's no way I can ease your mind
Platitudes and corny lines
Every peace of mind
Has got some sorrow behind it
I met him on the street
He kept looking for his office
He looked like a polar bear
Trying to balance on some ice flow
Things hadn't been the same for him since
9-11 happened
They just had to let him go
I met her on a train
She kept fondling her crystal
She said she was sick of living alone
With a million people
What she wanted was a man to sweat the small stuff
That was eating her alive...
You know there's no way I can ease your mind
Platitudes and corny lines
You know that every peace of mind
Has got some sorrow behind it
It's got some sorrow behind...
It's got some sorrow behind it
It's got some sorrow behind...
