So then, I have begun in earnest a new project. As anyone who has had a look at my profile will know, I work with bikes, loads of them but usually in races. Well as I became self employed 12 months ago and racing season is over I am branching out into building customised classics. The first project is going to be a Triton. For those who don't know this is a very popular combination of a Triumph Bonnevile engine in a Norton Manx frame.
However I am going to do some rather special modifications to the chassis and am going to design some sweet special parts using my experience in GP bike design. Also I am designing a fuel tank and seat unit that a local firm who fabricate aluminium fuel tanks for all sorts of classic bikes so they can do me some sweet one off parts!
Anyway so far I have got the frame stripped down and ready to take the modifications, the T120 R engine has been stripped down and I have rebuilt the bottom end with fresh crank bearings, bottom end shells and the often missed crankshaft sludge trap has been cleaned (it was full of shit which would starve the crank of oil).
I have cleaned up the pistons, replaced the rings and had the cylinder stove enameled in black. Also I have put some fresh valves and guides into the cylinder head.
So tomorrow my plan is to get the engine all back in one piece and then I can start on the frame mods.
My cute assistant Nancy.
Stay tuned bike fans! :D
