Right I have had a bit of a slack time with regards to this blog, we have been stupidly busy in work with much exciting shit happening. Anyway I have missed out the first round of the GP season at Qatar so a bit of catch up it is, then tomorrow I will post up the action from Jerez before i fly out to Estoril later this week.
So here we go Doha, Losail circuit in the desert, this is the furthest south I have ever been. I have done a lot of travel in Europe but not too much outside of there. First impressions, pretty dissapointing. It reminded me a lot of Florida but with desert where the swamps should be, completely Americanised from what I experienced, couldn't find any authentic restaurants. They are about but the center is just a mass of high rise monsters.
As the races were not until the evening, in the morning me and one of my colleagues went for a run to the seafront each morning followed by a chill out in the pool and sauna before rocking up for work around 2pm at the circuit. On a couple of mornings we got out for a bit of a wander too.
Anyhow the practice days were pretty cool, some teams were going well and others were a bit lost but as the days went by we got most on to an even keel. When it came to race day we had a huge suprise from our youngest rider Romano Fenati, he stole the lead and held it for a huge amount of time in the Moto3 category before eventually giving best to title fave Maverick Vinales, with a name like that you have to be a winner eh?
In Moto2 we didn't get out own way as top man for us Simone Corsi was running well and on a fast pace when he outbraked himself a couple of times and dropped back eventually settling for 8th.
In the GP class we had problems for Michele Pirro who came in with chain issues, but star of the day was Colombian Yonny Herenandez who rode hard all race and geave us our first points in the MotoGP world championship!!!
Anyway its my bed time now, tomorrow I will post pics from the weekend including stuff from race day, fake Venice and what happened to the rental car!
Have a little teaser of the FTR crew with all our bikes and riders!
