I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately and have decided that I'd write a blog of substance. It's been a while after all.
Where to begin. So much has changed within my life these past couple of months. I've completely changed professions, I've moved from California back to the east coast, North Carolina to be exact. And I've met someone who has captured my full attention (more on that in a bit). I've also moved back in with my folks. Only temporarily until I am able to save up some cash and afford all new furniture, down payment on a new place, and a little nest egg in case of emergencies.
Initially it was a very difficult transition. Leaving all of my friends, brother, everything that I grew to know and love in the last 9 years of my life was no easy task. But, I'm now closer to my family, which is great. My new career was quite daunting at first. Everyone I work with is quite a bit older than I, not to mention most of them have been with the company for several years (some as much as 15!). It's difficult to know what to expect when starting a new job. However, within the last month I've begun to feel very comfortable there. Within the first 4 months of starting I've already received a promotion, which gives me great confidence. It lets me know that I'm doing a good job, which is something everyone can appreciate.
So, I've met someone who I feel a deep, genuine, connection with. She's witty, intelligent, beautiful and she's a total nerd like myself. I know we both have our reservations due to past relationships, but I don't foresee that being a long-term issue. I'm still a bit guarded from one of my more serious previous relationships, but I see myself climbing a step further over the wall each day. It's amazing how much we have in common. I've never had this much in common with my significant other. We'll sit there and just geek out about video games, super heroes, or even scripting languages. The best part about it is that I can tell it's something she's genuinely interested in, not just something she thinks peaks my interest. I'm still very prone to over-analyzing things and haven't really been able to tell her the things I want to, but I'm working up to that. I think we both are, which makes it a whole lot easier. I'm really excited to see where this may lead.
