survived my birthday (the 11th). kind of odd how its never been a big deal since college to me. it usually fell during Spring Break, and since I didn't have a lot of money, it meant I was at home and at most spent it with family. my friends were either at college or elsewhere.
and then work started, and since I bounced around so much, I didn't have many friends in the area. just moved back and while I've made some friends, no close friends. guess it was a sign when my 40th birthday "celebration" was lunch with my bio-dad and dinner with my mom and step-dad.
so this year, it was brunch with my bio-dad and dinner with my mom, step-father, sister and her boyfriend. and I got an Amazon giftcard from my mom. and my supervisor at work gave me a $10 Wegmans giftcard (in part, also to thank me for working so hard on the Children's Health Home and making it so she doesn't have to worry about it). and that's really about it.
oh, and on my actual birthday I cleaned, did laundry, and played some Heroclix. nice, huh?
so why am I typing this? I don't know...guess this is one of the forums I can write what I want and not have to worry about family seeing it. since almost none of them know I'm even a member.
so I guess my question is....is it normal to see your birthday as another day? Or not to have a real celebration of some kind for your birthday? no going out to the bars for my 21st (although I also didn't drink at the time, a trend I've continued to this day) or even hanging out with friends. I spent on break, with family, alone at a McDonalds. for no other reason than again, all my friends were elsewhere. normal or not? people here, what do you think? just curious.
Thanks!
