last Friday went to Rover's Holiday Hangover (event here in Rochester). some of the bands were good. Last year, New Politics played, to be followed by the Kongos. Now, the Kongos is a good band, but more mellow and relaxed. New Politics is very high energy. so the order was bad.....lots of people left when the Kongos decided to switch instruments and took 15 minutes to do it.
This year, New Politics closed the show. At one point the guitar player went to switch to a mandolin. the string broke.....panic mood. So the lead singer goes "Okay....for the next song, I need to teach you the chorus...." does that for a short while, still no mandolin. the drummer starts playing/improving and the lead singer starts break dancing....kept the crowd going. the guitar player comes out and starts the next song, using a guitar and not a mandolin.....good way to keep the show going!
I went to the show with my cousin, his girlfriend, and my other cousin. The girlfriend's sister shows up, she's cute but married. got kind of weird. at one point my cousin is getting a beer (he knows the bar tenders) and I'm talking with his girlfriend and my other cousin (confused yet?). the girlfriend mentions a friend if I'm interested in meeting her. she's about a year or 2 older, low-key, home body, who loves Disney and Star Wars. I'm eh with Star Wars. and then goes "She's a high level exec and makes boat loads of money."
my view.....well, considering the last girl I've been interested in has made it known she has no interest....why not. what do I have to lose? so I told my cousin "I'm trusting you as a screener." so wish me luck. not the cutest, but if she's cool and down to earth I'll be happy! so wish me luck!
and in other news....eh, not too much. my "neighbors" (across the hall from me) just had a baby boy. I came home to a note (hand written) taped to my door telling me of the birth and apologizing for the noise. I knocked to congratulate them and tell them no problem. I heard the baby crying last night when I was in my living room....and heard nothing in my bedroom. but it was nice for them to write the note.
that's about it....how's your life?
