well, changed my availability at Wegmans starting the 21st of April. I figure I should pass the drug test (as the only drug I imbibe in is caffeine) and the background check (since I passed one for my certification and I haven't committed any crimes outside of traffic tickets). its starting to feel real this entire "real job" thing.
what am I looking forward to? somewhat normal hours. considering that I got out of work on Tuesday at 8:30 AM, it might explain why I'm awake at 4:30 AM. and Friday i start work at 6:00 AM.. that sucks!
decent pay. nothing super great...but better than $10.40 an hour. I made about $15,000 last year. I'm doubling that (and then some) with this new job. then add in things like sick time, decent to nice health insurance, and vacation time...it adds up! looking forward to maybe next year going to Gala in Toronto or something....actually get out and do something!
and I get to work in an area better suited to who I am. working with large groups of people in a public setting like retail is not for me....it drains me. unless the instrument used is pretty sensitive, I test out pretty much exclusively introvert. which means large groups of people or a busy day drains me. so Friday, after 8 hours of running register, I should be nice and tired out. and then I have 6 hours on Saturday during our busy time on register (again). by the time this week is over, I should be nicely drained to start the overnight shift Sunday night. hopefully whoever is doing the schedule does not have me work a 6 AM shift next Wednesday (since I have the overnight shift Monday into Tuesday). but since I also work with less than intelligent managers, that is a strong possibility!
so that's about it....when I wake up, shower and pick up comic books (hello Saga and Constantine). come home, scrub out the grout in our bathroom (the floor only) and mop the kitchen and bathroom floors. basically the entire house cleaning thing that I'm about the only one who does it and only when I have time. or as my Mom said to my step-father when he brought up the idea of charging me rent "Okay....but find a handy man and get ready to clean....keep in mind he does the shopping, most of the cooking and laundry and cleaning and pretty much does everything about the house to keep it up....you know, the stuff you don't do."
maybe I'll talk to my neighbor after a few weeks to a couple of months of moving in with him....we get along with each other, he has an open room....and it would be nice to get in a situation where I"m appreciated some. I can see my step-father now, asking my Mom to have me do something, and her being able to respond "He doesn't live here, remember....are you going to pay him?"
so how's your week?
