so verdict on my car....the mechanic thinks it might be either the Transmission Front Seal ($10 part and 5 hours of labor) or torque converter. but he doesn't work on transmissions, so who knows.
told my sister's boyfriend to check things out, and gave him a time frame for when I could pay (or pay him back) for the work. also asked when he is looking to (finally) get his car fixed. told him to ask the guy doing the work what he thinks. and not to drive it really due to the leaking transmission fluid (IE, you will fry the transmission....a $2500 repair bill) if you are not careful!
but we'll see....after all, both live and work in a 2 square mile town and yet have put on about 1000 miles in a month. figure that one out!
in other news....my step-father's dad has been moved to Hospice. he is 92 years old with Parkinsons. its kind of odd....I grew up with my step-father in my life (although my mom did not marry him until i was 13) and his family. his parents have more or less treated me like a grandson...kind of. his family has the "biological family" is more important than family mindset. but in other aspects...he is no my grandfather. both of my grandfathers died in 1988, so out of respect for them (and my notion that labels should fit) I do not call him my grandfather. technically....he's not.
oh well....we shall see how things are soon. his wife (of almost 65 years) died a few years ago...so for him to live this long is impressive. but as my younger sister said (who is biologically related), his quality of life is not there. so its a blessing.
and right around the holidays, too....if he dies in December that will be 5 deaths/funerals I've attended since 2000 in December. did I mention that I hate December?
