so Free Comic Book Day today. I got 3 free things (Buffy, DC New 52 and the Thor Heroclix). last year I spent the $15 for the "bundle" deal (everything in a bag). my cousin does this deal for people who want everything, its paying cost. after I did that, kept what I wanted (a handful) and ended up "selling" it back (credit to the store). this year, didn't bother.
and now a funny story. my step-father has, to say the least, horrible hearing. he blasts the volume on the radio and TV, etc. and can't hear things when people talk to him. since he was raised to believe he's special (along with his siblings....at one time he actually said "I don't make mistakes"), he won't admit he has a hearing problem. he brought my mom's jeep into FIrestone for an oil change and noticed a "squeek" from the brakes. odd, since he couldn't hear the wheel bearing going bad (and everyone heard it). he even told the guy at the shop "She claims to hear a noise, but I don't hear anything," to which the guy, afterwards, went "Your wife was right, it was quite a loud noise. It was a wheel bearing."
now, Firestone told him the back brakes need to be replaced (something was "cracked") and a coolant flush and this and that.....so an oil change now is running around $500.
is it me, or do I think they saw the word "sucker" on his forehead? especially when he made the statement about the noise.....since his hearing is so bad? how could he hear a squeek from brakes I did not hear yet not hear a bad wheel bearing?
